As an Association that supports Missionary groups and missionary
educational activities that originate in the United States
for the Church in the United States and around the world we
delighted to be part of mission-education.org. USCMA is an
association of individual missionaries, religious communities,
agencies, and groups engaged in the missionary activity of
the Church. USCMA actively supports and advances the activities
and efforts of US based Home and International missionary
groups. While we do not produce many educational materials
similar to those of our co-sponsors, we do provide opportunities
for missioners and missionary groups to gather, share, and
to learn from one another. We help to keep the Mission
Spirit alive among the people and structures of the
Church within the United States through our publications,
conferences, collaborations with local dioceses and religious
congregations, and ecumenical programs.
Publications:
1. Mission Update: Our quarterly newsletter that informs membership
about current missionary activities, issues and concerns.
2. Periodic Papers: Periodic Papers appear four times a year
along with our Mission Update. These papers arec reprints
of important articles or writings, or original writings for
our membership. They attempt to balance the interests among
the membership in the areas of development, justice, ecumenism,
mission theology, missionary formation and re-entry, and proclamation/evangelization.
3. Statistical Report on U.S. Missioners: Bi-annually USCMA
compiles and publishes for the Church in the United States
the Statistics of US Catholic involved in missionary and cross-cultural
activities.
Conferences:
1. Annual USCMA Conference: An annual gathering of members and
those concerned about the missionary and cross-cultural activities
of the Church.
2. Regional Gatherings: Opportunities for orientation, renewal
and updating on mission, scripture, theology and social analysis.
3. Ecumenical Consultations: Organized in collaboration with
ecumenical mission organizations we seek to foster and demonstrate
to the world a common witness of our Christian faith.
Collaborations:
1. Lay Mission Forum
USCMA, Catholic Network of Volunteer Service, the St. Vincent
Pallotti Center and lay mission sending groups collaborate
to improve the understanding of laity in mission among USCMA
membership and the Church in the United States.br>
2. USCCB Committee on World Mission
Our Executive Director, Sr. Rosanne Rustemeyer, S.S.N.D.,
is serving her third year of a three year term as a consultant
to the Bishops Committee. In addition, the staffs of
both USCMA and the Bishops Committees on World Mission
and Home Mission work collaboratively.
3. Conference of Major Superiors of Men (CMSM) & Leadership
Conference of Women Religious (LCWR)
The staffs of both groups continue to work in close communication
with USCMA to keep the Mission Spirit aflame in
the Church in the United States. Collectively with the Catholic Mission
Forum, we strive to implement the Mission Congress 2000 recommendations
of Mission Congress 2000.
